The Cheilocostus Speciosus ‘Variegatus aka ‘Spiral Ginger’ has an unusual and geometrically aesthetic. This rhizomatic plant grows stalks with a rhubarb/red stems, and variegated leaves. The leaves grow on only one side of the stem, spiraling upward. The leaves are each unique in color and pattern. The underside of the foliage is velvety soft to the touch. The Cheilocostus Speciosus is a rizomic plant. This is not recommended for indoor only use. This plant can handle full sun to very bright indirect light. Perfect for landscaping in gardens, courtyards, and covered patios. This plant will need more water depending on how hot or bright the environment is. Brighter and hotter places will need more watering. This plant often sheds of leaves and stalks when traumatized. Repotting and splitting the plant will traumatize the plant for a short time, the stalks will regrow in time. Do not assume the plant has died if stalks whither, this plant can go dormant in some environments.
